pLeaSANt surprises.......

Everything begins with the WORD!....HadassaH!

It's my first Sunday in Ekiti state...In Are-Ekiti.
well, i have been enjoying the quiet, serene and tranquillity of my new house since my arrival on Wednesday.
Fixing that which should come first and vital to my functionality here....the atmosphere...and heartmosphere...(if you know what I mean).
The quiet street of ARE community
And not just that alone anyways...i have also been using the time in getting acquainted with Mr T.J, my landlord...(and trust me that has been a whole lot of interesting discovery)....and also getting to know my new immediate environment (ARE-EKITI)....

Everybody around here seem to know one another...(its a small community, such is expected!)...so a new face is easily spotted...and I have been getting that curiosity stares from the people around. Apparently word has gone round that am a corper...(a new corper)...So I get to be greeted even before opening my mouth to say anything!
*Corpeeeeer!!!!!*
Even the little kids around constantly call me that as I walk past to get some groceries..
The judiciary court of ARE!!!
So should in case anyone looks for my trouble
*AM A SUE YOU!*...
LoL
*So ARE is meeting HadassaH one by one and HadassaH is meeting ARE gradually!*
Even though there is a cool feeling that comes with the curiosity and fascination i see on the faces of people each time I pass by and the attention i was also getting from them too..i long for much more...i long to begin the purpose to which I am here....To be a blessing to them!
A selfie before heading to church
I must commend the people of ARE have been very warm and welcoming....they seem like a quiet people!!!...(did I tell you they have a king and his palace is just a walking distance from my house)...i hope to tour into the palace sometime soon....and definitely meet the king...(well, we shall see about that by God's grace)
Right in front of the school
Student cutting the overgrown lawn
And obviously fascinated by corper!
I had gone to ARE/AFAO comprehensive high school (my PPA) the next day I arrived. Exams were over and students were just clearing and cutting the bushes in front of the school. I was hoping to see the principal and also meet other corpers especially Elizabeth and Godwin...and none of them were around.
@Are/afao comprehensive
High school

I had even gone to the local government at igede to pay for my file(i had forgotten to pay for it when i opened a file the first time I was there and the attendant had call me to tell me when u was already halfway to lagos.

Mr T.J has been really warm too and very hospitable. He had even gotten me a pack of yoghurt on his way from work the following day I arrived...(howz that for a hospitality) ...i must confess I had felt awkward initially. (a delicious meal the day I arrived and now this)..but hey, it's a season of pleasant surprises...why not just enjoy the blessing with thanksgiving.....(not to mention he made a sumptuous breakfast of yam and fried egg on friday)...boy! That was another meal i enjoyed o...(my landlord!!!!)
A new possession!
Contains all the work of ancient artist
From MichaelAngelo to Picasso.
I made a lot of new discovery
About ancient artist reading this book
We had got talking at length afterwards since it was a holiday and he didn't go to work because of the Muslim celebration break....He is a lover of art, infact an artist.
He draws and paints...i had seen a lot of art book in the other room in the house while i was unpacking and moving in and I had wondered if the person who used to stay in the room was some sort of artist. There was a lot of artist instruments. I had gone through them in instant fascination and i even took some of the books in the pile arranged in boxes. They were mostly art books, novels and a lot more.
Some of Mr Tj's art books...
I had taken them the day I arrived to look through
It's amazing

He told me he had wanted to study fine-art but his parents had refused to support the dream and even till now...he had studied history and international relations in EKSU...
He referred me to another room in the house where some of his art works (that others haven't taken away) were lying. And mehn i was amazed! He is really a very good painter.
When your landlord is an artist!
Some of his beautiful paintings
I wondered why a parent won't support this kind of dream..i guess we al know why!!!...some parents don't believe being an artist was lucrative more like being a musician or a footballer back. But  then..his own parents had thought he would end up only as a teacher and they had stifled that talent.
He prayed one of his kids would pick up on his love for painting...
His love for art was just amazing. He opened my eyes to the world of the MichaelAngelo, Raphael and Pablo Picasso...i have always loved art too and this was just a another meeting of another wonderful influence to shapen my world....i know this next one year is gonna be another discovery of art in me...i am really excited and looking forward to becoming a bit of an apprentice....there's a lot to learn from MR TJ and trust me I am ready to tap from his wealth of art....
Another painting!!!

He has a brilliant eye for colours and light reflection..very typical of an artist (a painter)
I couldn't be more happier to be where I am at the moment..i was glad for the peace of mind..the atmosphere of this house was like that of bethel(the house of GOD)...conducive for fellowship.
I was glad my eyes had been opened to this place and I was privileged to rent it even when Godwin and Elizabeth had almost discouraged me to rent their own place....i am glad for my rigid stubbornness and Xerxes help in talking to Mr Tj. I still wonder what the two of them had discussed because mr TJ has treated nothing less than a younger sister.
Hanging on my room wall....
For me, It's been a roller coaster of pleasant surprises and the lord has led me to beautiful places and beautiful people....For this and much more I am grateful...immensely grateful...
The new look of my room!
*Art-stained!*

So this morning when Mr TJ asked me what church i was going as i got ready to step out.
*Living faith!...winners chapel* i replied happily....he was smiling....
He even helped me with some sunday selfies..
(Howz that for a cool landlord)

Xerxes had suggested I attend a living faith church if there was one around.
I had seen one building that had living faith written on it at iworoko, the settlement before ARE during the week when I went to iworoko-market. It was just N50 bike away.
The living faith church!
Where I wanted to fellowship

The church doors was closed when I arrived..
No!!...(don't even think I came late...i didnt!)
It was just 9am...
So after waiting a while and shuffling in between going home and finding another option....i sighted a redeemed church in the same building complex...

I decided to fellowship with them after a brother standing infront of the church told me the living faith church had moved somewhere else.
Apparently I would find out later in service that he is the pastor of the church. Pastor Paul Obisesan of RCCG, shinning star parish.
the signpost!
Service there was great, very refreshing..they were mostly EKSU students and I enjoyed it..(i am guessing this is where i would be fellowshipping  for service year)....well,lets see about that!....i love a small student church. I love the closure of small groups. Growth and development is easily mobitored. The hunger i see in student fellowship is often organic and raw..
Where I eventually fellowshiped
Well, thats the pastor on suit afar off
I guess he was looking at the person snapping
Their sign board and building.

It was quite a beautiful sunday. I hope yours was great too......
