WaWa YAZO!!!!

Northern nigeria is as we were told in geography....*large expanse of grassland and scanty trees!*

The car took me past the Orientation camp to keffi last busstop.

*aunty! last busstop!!!!*

my attention was restored back to the environment when I heard that!...i lifted my head that was buried facing my phone.

I had been busy receiving so much calls!....mum-dad-xerxes-boy-girl-even from myself!

Ok! Where is the place?

It was then he realised I was a prospective corper to me and I owned the box in the booth.it was a different guy who ushered me into his car.i had sat beside the driver the whole time glued to my phone and once in a while observing the environment we passed as the car sped off.

*last busstop!...we don pass am that time when others got down!
(i wasn't even aware anyone got down! That's how busy i was with my phone)

He decided to drive me back to the orientation camp!

I thought he was a hausa man until he started playing fuji...

*ah! you are yoruba!*

He nodded and I smiled.
It was like seeing a family member in a strange land!
He helped me with my bag out of the car booth and bid me farewell!

So finally I was at NYSC Orientation camp at keffi!...

I looked around!..it was like the structure of government secondary school from afar!
(well,i couldn't get to snap properly.my hands were busy with my luggage! )

As soon as i (and a few others) approached the gate,my phone began ribging....i didn't pick up on the fact that others were lifting their luggage on their heads!
I was sent back to carry my box on my head, and jog back WITH IT saying
*wawa yaso* repeatedly!
*wawa yaso! Wawa yaso! Wawa yaso!*

I don't know what that meant...but am sure it's something insulting to anyone saying it..more like *i am a jjc* or * i am a mumu*..
Will find out the meaning from some hausa fella  later!

The rigour has began!

Lifting my box on my head was a challenge!
I had to be helped by another prospective corper while the soldiers at the gate weren't looking!

Our bags were searched for certain contrabands! And we were asked to lift our luggage on our heads again all the way in!

All the way in....*wawa yaso*

The next stop was to do parade!
We were put a parade by another set of soldiers!
Six on each roll!...and they called the parade language!

I was asked to wait behind amidst those we did the parade match in my roll of 6!

The soldier referred me to some group of soldiers who had been sitting afar off watching us!
They asked me to put my name and phone number and other datas down and asked if I had had a military experience before!

I smiled!
ofcourse...i have been running, doing cardios, lunge, lifting barbells and especially SQUATs!!...lol....am fit!!!...lol!

I wanted to rain that on their heads but it died unsaid in my mind!
(the things I leave unsaid in my imaginations!)

As I got talking to them..

They commented on my stance!..that i had a military frame..*i dont know if that's a good thing...but it sounded like a complement at the time!

They enjoined me to do well when I was shared into a platoon.they advice me to not shy away during the platoon parade.
I had become friends with these soldiers......i guess they were pleased with the my stance at the parade!...

I was directed to where to get my bed while the soldiers held on to my luggage!

They also got me one of the hausa potters who were carrying people's luggage to their rooms. I gave her a token afterwards.
I located for myself a top bunk by the window....and I was off to begin registration!

The hustle began at the large queue trying to get into the registration hall!.....
I was on the line till 5pm from 12noon when I been on the queue!.
ladies pushing and screaming and shunting and pushing and laughing and complaining and shouting!.(our line was separated from guys) ...i didn't know ladies could be rougher than guys o!)...it took two soldiers ordering and shouting to get some order..

I finally decided to go and just arrange me bed!...my legs were aching bad...i had been ruffled up and my toes have been stepped on and my shoes were in bad shape!....i have been standing and sitting too!

My bed space!

When I returned, the line was longer..the rush was terrible...people shunting the line....it was a sight!

My legs were aching and I had not eaten all day.

my first attempt to the mami market was impossible. Soldiers were after everyone to go back to the parade ground (those whom have been registed!) or the registration post(people like me!).

So again i was on the queue de la impossible and long!
After making a little progress on the line, the scattered it all up again!...and again I was at the back....those who had the strength kept pushing....
I decided my strength wasn't for that....
I was tired!....and hungry!

Again I was off to mami market.this time, no solider chasing anyone to go back...the crowd at the registration point was handful enough for them to handle..so like many others,i just walked down there for my first meal of the day which will also be my dinner!

My battery needed to be recharged!
(i dropped a battery there to be charged replacing it with the spare!)

I hadn't done any registration and it was getting late and people kept arriving!

I was relentless.

I had to get something done today,so I joined the queue again..
With some quick manoeuvres here and there,i actually mean jumping from spot to spot, the line finally moved in my favour! ...i was in front!

Hurray!

I got stamped!

Hurray!

I did computer registration!

Hurray!

I got distributed to a platoon
Hurray!

Platoon3!
Hmmmm!
Will get my kit and meal ticket tomorrow morning!

It's 9:30pm
Hmmm!
Glo network is bad!
Agrrrrh!

I finally got a good spot for Internet connection.....
Hurray!

I have to try get some rest too after a good shower first!

I had a phone friend boosting my morale the whole while!

4am is just around the corner!

I guess it is a fairly good start for day one!.....grrr!
