*Hadassah..where are you?..are you not coming for kunnu geda?...abi you have taken breakfast at kitchen.*
There was so much excitment in the voice of chigo......
He was obviously at the hausa cuisine already about to have another round of the specials...
*how many times have you gone to toilet after that kunnu thing?...i have gone like thrice!.*
Same person asked me that morning at the parade ground!
*All those nonsense you have been eating needed to be flushed out....*
I watched his already pouted lips and fade away into a grin!
And that same chigo who sheepishly claimed to be purging is already at the cuisine spot bidding me to come with a goofy clownish excitment.
Well I couldn't go....i already picked up breakfast at the kitchen....it was pap and akara...no need for any kunnu geda or kunnu ziikee!
I wish I could run away from my platoon parade...it was tiring...the members talk and argue a lot even when parade is in progress.everyone is always correcting another person's leg or hand or nose..blah blah blah...everybody is a commander...they hardly listen to one another....
Well the relieving news is that tomorrow is the official parade competition...i can't wait to be done with it and put a full stop to everything parade!
I, as well many others slept through my SAED class...they were teaching us how to bake...i struggled and struggled to keep my eyes open...the class has been a boring one so far...i attend oftentimes to avoid being made sport of by some nysc officials....
I am beginning to see less and less of the soldiers firmness....
A quater of people often remain in the hostel even after we have been sent off to our different SAED classes...camp was becoming a free land...so much liberty is beginning to show up....
It was publicly announced that tonight is MAKOSA NIGHT!
They served jollof rice for lunch at kitchen.
I bought * fura-de-nunu* as refreshment for my lunch...well not exactly *fura-de-nunu*...i requested for the *nunu* part(cow milk)..the sight of the *fura* thing gave me shivers!....

Nunu tasted so good.....
It had the milky taste of yoghurt....
Very delicious and I believe nutritious too!
Preparation for tomorrow's platoon parade competition began in force Immidiately after evening parade. We were dismissed earlier than usual, instructed to polish our booth for and tack up the pockets of our khaki...
Laundry spot was full of corpers trying to collect their clothes....even my cap was yet to be ironed...i had to do it myself while they sorted the clothes of others....
The night was also beginning to be festive....
So much excitment in the air about this makosa night!
By the time I returned from mami market, many were already in their jeans!

| Platoon 3 parade on preparation. |
The hostel was noisy!!!
People hailing and urging one another to get dressed....
The multipurpose hall is just directly in front on my hostel.ladies and guys were trooping in in masses with shouting and hooting everywhere....loud makosa music was also filtering into the atmosphere from the large stereo!....
Soon the hostel was half empty....
Multipurpose hall was the centre of events....
Dancing was going on and people were shouting their platoon numbers.
Dancing was going on and people were shouting their platoon numbers.
I wanted a time alone!....i thought this time would be a perfect time for it...some little bit of quietness within and without ...but those who didn't go in the hostel made almost equal noise......i just lay there
.................
Makosa night ended as abruptly just few minutes before light out and soldiers were out blowing whistles......shouting light out.....go to bed!!!
It will take a while to get stillness in the already excited atmosphere.........
